- You need 4 cup of Lg. Elbow Macaroni.
- Prepare 6 tbsp of Margarine or Butter.
- It's 1/2 cup of Finely chopped Onions.
- It's 6 tbsp of All-purpose Flour.
- It's 4 cup of Milk.
- It's 1/2 tsp of Dry Mustard.
- You need 1/4 tsp of Garlic Powder.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Salt.

- It's 4 1/2 cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese plus.
- Prepare 1 cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese, set aside.
Emme's Mac and Cheese step by step
- Cook elbow macaroni as per pkg directions.
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- In,a small bowl combine flour, garlic powder, dry mustard, salt and pepper.
- In a large Dutch oven, melt butter and saute onions.
- Stir in flour mixture.
- Gradually add about 1 cup of the milk, stir until flour mixture is smooth.
- Stir in rest of milk.
- Stir constantly over medium heat, until sauce thickens.
- Add cheese, stir until cheese melts.
- Add macaroni to cheese sauce.
- Spoon into 2 greased 2-quart baking dishes.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Add remaining cheese after 30 minutes and broil for 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and crisps.
