Mike's 1970's Doughnuts. No Palmer family gathering is complete without these doughnuts. They are possible the most famous and most beloved recipe in our family. I met Mike while teaching an advanced photography seminar at the university.

Ingredients of Mike's 1970's Doughnuts

It's of Vanilla Filling & Supplies.
You need 1 cup of Melted Unsalted Butter.
Prepare 1/2 tsp of Vanilla Extract.
Prepare 2 tbsp of Whole Milk.
You need 3 cup of Powdered Sugar.
You need 1 of Electric Mixer.
It's 1 large of Ziplock Bag [for filling].
It's of Doughnuts & Supplies.
You need 1 can of 16.3 oz Large Pillsbury Butter Or Plain Biscuits [flaky or regular].
You need 5 cup of Frying Oil [or less may be needed].
It's 1 large of Frying Pan.
You need 1 of Wooden Spoon.

Mike's 1970's Doughnuts step by step

Heat oil in pan then turn to medium low..
Add a few biscuits to the hot oil and fry 2 1/2 minutes on each side Don't burn or over brown. Just keep flipping them..
Allow the biscuits to cool and drain on paper towels. Then place the handle of your wooden spoon through the fried bread. Not all the way through tho..
Mix your vanilla filing mixture, [add fruit additions if you'd like] and place it in a Ziplock bag. Snip the end and gently squeeze filing inside the donut..
Sprinkle on powdered sugar and serve warm with coffee..
